We all want to make the most out of our time. We have long daily to-do lists and we want to accomplish every task written there. However, for most of us one or two tasks always get postponed to the next day. As a result, we get overwhelmed. We either over-estimate our capabilities or lack the skills to manage things well.
It is important to keep the to-do list simple, eliminate unnecessary tasks and delegate the tasks wherever possible. At the same time, it is equally important to manage our time, focus and attention well. Below are three hacks that can help achieve great results:
It might look insignificant but this is the first step. It is important to be aware of what we are doing in the present moment. To put it simply, watching oneself as a third person as to what and where we are engaged with. When we know this, the moment we are distracted, we can easily get back to work. With mindfulness and more control, there will be a shift to being more proactive than reactive in terms of our actions.
Tracking down the Time Spent
Though it sounds like an unnecessary task, the simple exercise of tracking how we are spending our time can be most helpful. We need not track every minute or every hour, just noting down how many hours are we spending on work, exercise, social media, personal development etc. can bring great realizations and help us plan our time well.

Once we figure out how we are wasting or spending our time on unimportant/ inefficient tasks, it becomes way too easy to bring positive changes.
Go with the Flow
This one might seem like a counter hack to the above two but going with the flow is the key to achieving more. We are part of nature and nature has cycles, for example, water cycle, nutrient cycle etc. Similarly, we have cycles to work aggressively then calm down and get back to working again. Giving time to re-energize ourselves during the relaxing phase by accepting it and slowing down yields the best results. We can know all about these phases by listening to our bodies and mind.
At the end of the day, we are all humans and not machines. We cannot afford to feel overwhelmed by thinking about being productive all the time. What matters most is to take care of ourselves and be productive at the same time.
